Mike Richter

Following a 15-year career with the New York Rangers, where he was a three-time National Hockey League all-star, Stanley Cup champion and Olympic medalist, Mike Richter is currently the President of Brightcore Energy, a key spokesperson for environmental issues, and a leader in the arena of sustainability.

Brightcore Energy is a provider of end-to-end clean energy solutions to the commercial and institutional market, including commercial and community solar, high-efficiency renewable heating and cooling (geothermal), LED lighting and controls, electric vehicle (EV) charging, battery storage, smart building solutions, and other emerging technologies. Brightcore Energy accelerates the deployment of a wide range of energy-efficiency and renewable energy technologies through its innovative Efficiency-as-a-Service (EaaS) model that requires no capital investment and provides for immediate operating cost savings, making it affordable and seamless for buildings to quickly and easily transition their legacy energy platforms to significantly more efficient and sustainable ones.

Mike holds a B.A. in Ethics, Politics, and Economics, with a focus on Environmental Policy, from Yale University.

Elizabeth Zeitler

Elizabeth (Beth) Zeitler, Associate Director, Board on Energy and Environmental Systems of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine

Beth is Associate Board Director of the Board on Energy and Environmental Systems at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine. Across the Academies, she leads consensus studies to inform government, private and public sector decision-makers on key areas of domestic and global energy policy, such as technologies for vehicle energy efficiency, the future of the electric system, and technical and policy needs for deep decarbonization. She has previously led and supported projects on vehicle technologies; carbon utilization; the future of electrochemistry; technology and policy needs for the electric grid; energy system decarbonization; data, modeling and simulation for urban sustainability; electric vehicle deployment; and energy resource potential on DOE lands. Beth received a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Princeton in 2014, and has previously served as a Christine Mirzayan Fellow at the Academies and as an AAAS STPF Fellow at the U.S. foreign assistance agency, the Millennium Challenge Corporation.

Justin Gundlach

Justin Gundlach joined the Building Decarbonization Coalition’s New York team in September 2022. He leads that team’s utility policy and regulatory efforts in New York. He is the author of numerous publications on how energy and environmental law and policy interact with the impacts of energy use on the climate and of climate change on infrastructure and public health.

Before joining Building Decarbonization, Justin worked at the New York University School of Law’s Institute for Policy Integrity, the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), and the Sabin Center for Climate Change Law at Columbia Law School. He received a J.D. cum laude from NYU School of Law, an M.Sc. from the London School of Economics, and a B.A. magna cum laude from Wesleyan University.
