Max McCafferty

Max McCafferty joined Build Edison in 2018 with a background in clean energy innovation, commercializing energy technologies, and quantitative financial analysis. Serving as Chief Operating Officer, he provides Build Edison’s clients with strategies to develop energy innovation programs, scale cleantech solutions, and analyze potential investment opportunities.

Mr. McCafferty focuses on multiple sides of energy solutions and innovation, developing innovation programs and strategies as well as enabling energy startups to scale. He has worked with clients of all sizes, spanning early-stage cleantechs, corporations, utilities, investors, and governments.

David Manning

David Manning was named Director of Brookhaven National Laboratory’s Stakeholder Relations Office, Community and External Relations in January 2015. Mr. Manning’s responsibilities include developing, implementing, and assessing strategic internal and external communications plans and programs to advance the scientific mission and priority programs to help increase support for the Lab’s programs and priority projects; and overseeing science education and workforce development programs to fulfill the Lab’s and U.S. Department of Energy’s education and diversity goals.

Mr. Manning has worked in both government and the private sector, including serving as the Deputy Minister of Energy for Alberta, Canada, and Executive Vice President of Public and Corporate Affairs and Chief Environmental Officer for Keyspan/National Grid. Most recently, he served as the U.S. representative for the Premier of Alberta, deeply involved in energy issues.

Mr. Manning earned a B.A. and LL.B. in law from the University of Alberta and did post-graduate work in international law at the Australian National University.

David Hamilton

Mr. Hamilton is the Director of Programs for Economic Development. He oversees five major program areas within Economic Development, to include Center of Excellence in Wireless Technology (CEWIT), Center in Integrated Electric Energy Systems (CIEES), Strategic Partnership for Industrial Resurgence (SPIR), Manufacturing and Technology Resource Consortium (MTRC), and Advanced Energy Center (AEC). As the former Executive Director of the virtual Clean Energy Business Incubator Program (CEBIP), Mr. Hamilton brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the CEBIP Executive Advisory Board.

Mr. Hamilton started his professional career with the Long Island Lighting Company managing independent power producers. From there, he has been involved in the design, development and implementation of Sirius Satellite Radio’s terrestrial transmitters, developing sales and marketing plans for aerospace and IT companies, managing the sales and operation of hydrogen fuel cells for Plug Power, and most recently developing the commercial sales and marketing for EmPower Solar, a leading Long Island turnkey solar provider.

His education includes a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Clarkson University and a MBA in Marketing from Hofstra University. He brings a focus in clean energy technologies with experience in business development, commercialization of engineering technologies, marketing and sales, as well as an ability to communicate well with early-stage entrepreneurs in the clean energy arena.
