Timothy Kim

Timothy Kim is the founder and CEO of ibV Energy Partners, a leading utility-scale solar + storage company with over 8 GW of project capacity across the US.

The Company’s innovative strategies has led to collaboration with Toyota Motors, Dow Corning, Louisville Gas & Electric, Southern Nevada Water Authority and several other non- traditional buyers of solar generated energy. Likewise, the Company has led the charge into heavy fossil-fuel states, breaking open new markets such as Kentucky and Louisiana, where it remains the largest developer of renewable energy projects to date.

Before founding ibV Energy in 2017, Tim held senior roles in international finance and M&A. He got his start in the renewable energy industry as a deal team member with KfW IPEX-Bank, Germany’s largest international project finance institution. Following, he co-founded the US Export-Import Bank’s Office of Renewable Energy Finance where his team closed on more than 600 MW of global transactions. Ensuing roles included Head of M&A and Finance at two renewable energy investment companies, where he directed financial structuring, asset acquisitions and divestitures, and pricing analytics.

Prior to entering the private sector, Tim was an Officer in the US Navy. He was deployed to Liberia as a member of the US Military Observer Group, and Kuwait and Iraq, as a platoon leader with Naval Coastal Warfare Group One, a key element of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Tim earned a Master of Arts in International Economics & International Affairs from the Johns Hopkins University, SAIS, and his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History from New York University. He is a California native and now resides in Washington, DC.
