
Rick Shansky is the Senior Vice President of Power Supply and Wholesale Markets for Long Island Power Authority. In this role, Mr. Shansky is responsible for LIPA’s power supply planning, procurement, and portfolio management, as carried out by PSEG Long Island. Mr. Shansky also manages LIPA’s participation in wholesale power markets and the day-to-day procurement of power and fuel to serve the energy needs of LIPA’s customers. Mr. Shansky has 40 years of electric utility experience and has held several management positions since joining LIPA in 2008.
Previously, Mr. Shansky held positions at Consolidated Edison Company of New York and the Long Island Lighting Company in energy management, resource planning, fuel and purchased power, and generation planning.
Mr. Shansky received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Master of Science in Energy Management from the New York Institute of Technology. He is also a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of New York.
