James Heath

James Heath is Managing Director of New Ventures at Southern Co., where he focuses on innovative technology commercialization and strategic business development. Mr. Heath oversees Southern’s investment in Energy Impact Partners (EIP) and works closely with Southern’s operating companies and unregulated subsidiaries to bring new products and services to market, curate delightful customer experiences, and advance internal and customer sustainability goals. He is a board member of Cloverly, the sustainability API start-up.

Prior to joining Southern, Mr. Heath was a part of Accenture Strategy, where he focused on the Utility of the Future advising a wide range of clients on growth opportunities and business model transformation. He was an associate at Constellation Technology Ventures (CTV), Exelon’s internal venture capital group, where he executed investments in energy efficiency, storage, electric vehicles, and more. Heath started his career in energy and environmental finance with EcoSecurities developing small-scale renewables and GHG emissions reductions projects globally. He has an MBA from Georgetown University, an MSc from the University of Oxford, where he wrote about the intersection of climate change and business decision-making, and a B.S. from Texas A&M University.
