Daniel Nussbaum

Dr. Daniel Nussbaum is the Chair of the Energy Academic Group at the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California. He teaches classes in energy, operations research, cost estimating and cost benefit analysis, and he does research and mentors students.

He has been a Principal with Booz Allen Hamilton; the Director of the Naval Center for Cost Analysis; and has held other management and analysis positions with the U.S. Army and Navy in the U.S. and in Europe.

He has a B.A. in Mathematics and Economics from Columbia University and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Michigan State University. He has held post-doctoral positions in Econometrics and Operations Research, and in National Security Studies at Washington State University and Harvard University.

He is active in professional societies and is the Past President of the Society of Cost Estimating and Analysis, and he has served on the Board of the Military Operations Research Society. He publishes and speaks regularly before professional audiences, and he is currently writing a book on Operational Energy.
